Day 1 of the 2009 Inter-school Wushu Championships was a fruitful one for the HC Wushu team.
In the A Div Girls 'Changquan 1st International Routine' event, Clarisse Look gave a solid performance with a score of 8.08, clinching the bronze medal.
Watch Clarisse in action:
Despite strong competition from national representatives, the A Div Boys still manage to bag 3 medals in the Nanquan and Changquan events.
The competition was intense in the Nanquan event as the 1st and 2nd competitors managed a high score of 8.95 and 8.58. However, this did not deter our own Wushu team members as Xue Yuyu and Nathaniel Gan demonstrated power and agility in their routines; eventually winning the 2nd and 5th place with a score of 8.68 and 8.63 respectively.
Yuyu's silver medal routine:
Nat's agile and powerful routine:
In the A boys Changquan event, Koh Yee Hong and Kuo En Yi executed their routines with confidence. Their swift movements and flexible kicks, coupled with the deep flavour present in their movements, bagged them the 3rd and 4th placing, with a score of 8.41 and 8.38 respectively.
Yee Hong's Changquan:
En Yi's Changquan:
Currently, the A Div Girls stand at overall joint 3rd with 3 points and the A Div Boys are at 2nd place with 8 points total.
